Why Choose MSO Logistics Bunkering Service?

The Netherlands — and Rotterdam in particular — is one of the world’s premier bunkering hubs. The Port of Rotterdam ranks among the top bunkering ports globally, handling millions of tonnes of marine fuel every year for vessels crossing the North Sea, the Atlantic, and beyond. MSO Logistics is based right here, embedded in this ecosystem. That means our clients benefit from:

  • Direct access to one of the world’s busiest and best-connected bunkering ports
  • A well-established supplier network that ensures consistent fuel availability across all grades
  • Fast response times — our 24/7 operations team is always ready to coordinate your bunker delivery
  • Proximity to major refining and blending facilities for fresh, on-specification fuel supply
  • Experienced local knowledge of port operations, anchorage areas, and regulatory requirements

When you choose MSO Logistics for your bunkering needs, you’re choosing a team that knows this port, knows this industry, and has built its reputation on making the complex simple.

Our Bunkering Products

Marine Fuel Supply — HFO, VLSFO & MGO

MSO Logistics supplies the full range of conventional marine fuels to meet the operational and regulatory requirements of any vessel, route, or trading area. Our marine fuel offering includes:

  • Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO / 380 CST) — high-energy, cost-effective fuel for vessels equipped with exhaust gas cleaning systems (scrubbers)
  • Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO / 0.50% S) — compliant with IMO 2020 global sulphur cap, suitable for open-ocean trading and ECA operations
  • Marine Gas Oil (MGO / DMA Grade) — clean-burning distillate fuel for ECA zones, port operations, and vessels without scrubbers
  • Marine Diesel Oil (MDO / DMB Grade) — a versatile intermediate distillate for auxiliary engines and vessels with mixed fuel requirements

All fuels supplied by MSO Logistics are sourced from reputable refineries and blending facilities, tested for on-specification quality, and delivered with full MARPOL documentation including Bunker Delivery Notes (BDNs) and fuel mass flow meter records.

LNG Bunkering

As the maritime industry accelerates its shift toward cleaner energy, LNG has become the go-to alternative fuel for newbuild and retrofitted vessels. MSO Logistics is positioned to support this transition, offering LNG bunkering services in the Netherlands for vessels operating on liquefied natural gas.

Our LNG bunkering services offer:

  • Barge-to-ship LNG delivery for vessels berthed at port or at anchor
  • Truck-to-ship LNG supply for smaller vessels and short-sea shipping operators
  • Shore-to-ship LNG connections at selected terminals
  • Full coordination with port authorities and terminal operators for safe and compliant LNG transfer
  • Documentation and regulatory support including MSDS, cargo transfer checklists, and port notifications

As LNG infrastructure continues to develop across Northwestern Europe, MSO Logistics is investing in the capabilities to serve the growing fleet of LNG-fuelled vessels calling at Dutch ports. Talk to our team about your LNG bunkering requirements and we’ll put together a solution that works for your vessel and trading schedule.

Biofuel & Alternative Marine Fuels

Sustainability is no longer optional in shipping — it’s a commercial and regulatory necessity. MSO Logistics supports ship operators and managers in meeting their decarbonisation targets by offering biofuel blends and alternative marine fuel options alongside conventional products.

Our alternative fuel offering includes:

  • B20, B30, and higher biofuel blends (FAME-based and HVO-based) compatible with existing marine diesel engines
  • Drop-in biofuels that require no engine modification and are fully interchangeable with conventional marine fuels
  • Carbon-neutral and low-carbon fuel certificates (Book & Claim / Mass Balance) for emissions reporting
  • Tailored blending to meet your specific CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator) improvement targets
  • Support with EU ETS compliance documentation for vessels trading within European waters

Whether you’re working toward your 2030 emissions targets, responding to charterer requirements, or simply exploring greener fuel options, MSO Logistics can help you make the transition — practically, affordably, and without compromising on vessel performance.

Marine Lubricants Supply

A well-fuelled engine is only half the picture. MSO Logistics also supplies a comprehensive range of marine lubricants to keep your vessel’s machinery running smoothly and efficiently — delivered directly to your vessel alongside or separately from your fuel order.

Our lubricant supply covers:

  • Cylinder oils for two-stroke main engines, including low and high BN variants for different fuel types
  • System oils and trunk piston engine oils (TPEO) for four-stroke engines
  • Hydraulic oils, gear oils, and turbine oils for auxiliary machinery and deck equipment
  • Greases and specialty lubricants for marine applications
  • Products from leading marine lubricant brands, with technical data sheets and MSDS documentation included

Our team can advise on the right lubricant specification for your engine type and fuel grade, helping you avoid compatibility issues and optimise your maintenance intervals.

How We Deliver — Our Bunkering Methods

MSO Logistics offers four delivery methods, giving you the flexibility to receive fuel in whatever way best suits your vessel, your berth, and your schedule:

Barge Bunkering

Our primary and most efficient delivery method for high-volume bunkering. MSO Logistics coordinates bunker barge operations to deliver fuel directly to your vessel — whether she’s at berth, at anchor, or at a designated bunkering anchorage. Barge bunkering is ideal for large parcel sizes and offers fast pumping rates to minimise time alongside. All barge operations comply with MARPOL Annex I and VI requirements, and are conducted by trained and certificated bunkering personnel.

Ship-to-Ship (STS) Bunkering

For vessels that cannot come to berth or require fuel transfer at sea, MSO Logistics arranges ship-to-ship bunkering operations using specially equipped bunker tankers. Our STS operations follow IMO STS transfer guidelines and are supported by pre-transfer meetings, mooring masters where required, and full safety checklists to ensure every transfer is conducted safely and efficiently.

Truck-to-Ship Bunkering

For smaller vessels, distillate fuel deliveries, LNG supply, or berths without barge access, MSO Logistics offers truck-to-ship delivery using ADR-certified road tankers. This method provides maximum flexibility — deliveries can be arranged at short notice and to a wide range of berths and terminals across the Netherlands. Our trucks are GPS-tracked, and all deliveries include full metered documentation.

Pipeline / Shore Connection

At selected terminals with direct pipeline infrastructure, MSO Logistics can arrange shore-to-ship fuel delivery via fixed pipeline connections. This is the fastest and most cost-effective delivery method for vessels with regular port calls, offering high flow rates and reduced handling complexity. Pipeline delivery is particularly well-suited to ferry operators, regular port callers, and vessels on scheduled services.
